Abstract

Two cases of bidirectional tachycardia were presented and its etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prognosis were reviewed.
The underlying disease was mitral stenosis in one case and septicemia in the other, and in both cases bidirectional tachycardia was not related to digitalis, althouth in the former an excessive dose of a sort of herb drug was ingested with suididal intention.
Intravenous infusion of potassium chloride restored sinus shythm in both cases. and the one with mitral stenosis lived for 17 months until lost to follow-up, whereas the other died of septicemia 42 days after the appearance of bidirectional tachycardia.
